This is part of HRM’s three-part series that cover STDs, teen pregnancy, and alcohol and sex. This 16 minute video deals with teen pregnancy, and includes an extensive teacher’s resource book with reproducible activity and fact sheets, and pre- and post-tests. This program animatedly attempts to arm teenage viewers with critical information and tools to make informed decisions about sexual activity. The difficulties of being a teenage parent are vividly illustrated. My only disappointment with this production is the lack of any in-depth background that offers advice on how to keep from being a ‘teen dad,” as well; and effectively illustrating the realities and struggles of teen fatherhood. The teen mothers and fathers illustrated here clearly need the guidance offered. Each of them is aware of the challenges, the mistake(s) and now the responsibility of caring for another person. The emphasis in The Truth about Teen Pregnancy offers some answers but also needs to clearly show how responsible teen dads have to be as well. After birth, there is no turning back.
