This is a recording of a question-and-answer session held February 16th, 2010, at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, featuring Princeton professor emeritus Bernard Lewis. The content is very good, but use in a classroom may be difficult. Most of the questions were difficult to hear, and a fair amount of background knowledge was assumed—both about the history of Islam, and the recent history of the Middle East and North Africa. It would serve well as supplemental material for a course on either topic. The Hebrew University has made it freely available on YouTube.

The discussion covered Islam and modernization, the defeat of the U.S.S.R., the Islamization of Europe, the case of Iran, Turkey, Muslim education, and related topics. Being a historian, Lewis often gave brief histories, or historical comparisons, which were enlightening.
