Each separate title runs 17 minutes, a perfect viewing length for middle and high school students. All five titles provide a Resource Guide in a PDF file included within the DVD’s. The target audience is a difficult one to grab and hold interest. They can tune out as quickly as the tune in. All in the series wisely don’t mince words or images. Teens don’t mind direct information such as presented in here, but they don’t respond to preaching or talking down. Contemporaries narrate throughout, with plenty of music and quickly edited graphics, with only the occasional grown up expert to lend credibility. Individually presented are Alcohol, Tobacco, Marijuana, Prescription and Over the Counter Drugs, and Drugs and the Teen Brain. The entire series is excellent, but especially valuable is the information presented about prescription and non-prescription drugs, and the deadly effects of mixing them with alcohol. Abuse and ignorance usually go hand in hand.
