Reviewed by Alexander Rolfe, Technical Services Librarian, George Fox University, Newberg, ORThis sobering documentary provides a glimpse of the scourge that several Latin American countries live under: kidnapping. One victim, Herbin Hoyos, started a radio program upon his release so families could send messages of love and encouragement to their missing relatives.
The film follows two families, one whose son was eventually released, and another still waiting and praying. Despite its brevity, one learns why kidnapping is rampant, how it happens, and the significance of the Voices of Kidnapping radio broadcasts for victims, families, and kidnappers. This is an excellent film that does justice to its subject in a brief enough span to use in a classroom setting.
