Reviewed by Andrew Koval, MSLSJFK: The Private President features a socio-political exploration of President John F. Kennedy and his family through the analysis of expert commentary from Kennedy Biographer Robert Dalleck, entertainer Harry Belafonte, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and former advisor to Kennedy, Ted Sorenson. The narration by Alex D’Attomas is clear and measured. Presented are little known personal facts and dreamlike Kennedy home movie footage. Transitions are seamless except for the abrupt conclusion. This film is acceptable content for public viewing or as a supplemental material for courses in American studies, political science or history. Further, this work ought to be included in private collections, university, presidential and some public libraries. JFK: The Private President is a worthwhile contribution to an over exposed documentary film subject.
