The film elicits a moody atmosphere found within a BBC mystery series which enriches the performances of the characters. The suspense that transpires is further reinforced by the fact that this story is based on true events. The German Doctor may be most effectively utilized for discussion groups focused on the subject of the holocaust. Puenzo’s film is most appropriate for public, private and academic collections.
