Reviewed by Andrew Koval, MSLSIn Reaching Your Financial Goal: Crowdfunding and Grants the viewer learns how to fundraise for a particular project utilizing practical and soft skill techniques to solicit funding from organizations, government sources and online donors. This film offers specific descriptions for the variety of costs associated with fundraising. One example is the definition given for direct, indirect and shared costs. Definitions such as these afford a more adept understanding of the fundraising process. What’s more, advice on what not to do in the preparation of the funding campaign is provided. Further, the film features a rock band using crowdfunding and a representative for a non-profit applying for a grant opportunity. This makes for relatable content to a broader demographic.
Organizing scenes into clearly defined chapters on the disc adds increased value to the content for training purposes. Like content would constitute a work place training video. This film would be of most use for public, academic, government, school and non-profit libraries and is appropriate for middle school to general adult audiences, and has particular emphasis as a tool for professional development in the workplace.
