Reviewed by Bonnie Jo Dopp, Librarian Emerita, University of MarylandFive years in the making, this program has two filmmakers: Norwegian professional Julia Dahr and Kenyan farmer Kisilu Musya, who learned how to operate a video camera from Ms. Dahr. An unusually violent rainstorm that destroyed Mr.Musya’s house and many farms in his remote village brought them together. A close look at Kenyan village home life and farming practices, community organizing for defensive change against further flooding, and bringing the crises of climate change endured by these people to the attention of the world comprise the heart of the film. As for many activist documentaries, this one aims for a future of audience involvement via a website that encourages public support of “climate-resilient farming communities in East Africa.” An engaging example of personal storytelling in the midst of contemporary climate challenges.
