The film begins on August 8th, 2010 around 8:30pm on a highway where the driver and his passenger are speeding in excess of 100 miles per hour down a Long Island, NY highway. The viewer is then introduced to Austin Guerra, born in January 1990. From an early age and into high school, Austin is using marijuana, cocaine and other drugs. The ensuing car accident nearly kills him and it is here that we begin to see the reality of drug addiction and the pain it causes users, families and friends. Watch the video to see how Austin transforms himself into a self-sustaining person conquering this chilling disease and never forgetting what he almost became. It sends a potent message to those still in the throes of drug addiction. Austin’s personal journey from drug addict to academic scholar is a must see that will resonate for some time to come with many viewers.
