Reviewed by Andrew Koval, MSLSCOVER/AGE raises awareness on health care access for undocumented immigrant adults in the United States. Specific to California, viewers will follow advocates seeking to enact state legislation for this cause. Health care as a human right is a primary theme.
Though brief, this work articulates the main idea through personal accounts and civic engagement. And is an evenly paced position piece that culminates in a grassroots call to action. Audiences will sympathize with the circumstances of those individuals experiencing health risks without health coverage.
Though region specific, the issues raised will serve as a starting point for a wide-ranging health care discussion. Similar titles include Sicko (2007) and 9/11's Unsettled Dust (2021), both of which explore health care gaps in the United States. Libraries searching for an introductory case study in the narrow subject of medical, law and ethics will benefit by selecting COVER/AGE.
