When I was in grade school, Sister Cloz Da'Winda loved to use filmstrips for everything - whether appropriate or not - just to save her from that pesky job of teaching. She would have loved this video, which gives a short intro into the wonders of the compound microscope (terminology, parts, backgrounds, lighting). Problem is, these are exactly the kind of hands-on biology lessons a teacher should want to do, and any self-respecting sophomore would want to do, too, instead of watching a video. As a brief overview of the instrument, this video is more than competent; as a teaching tool for microscopy, it seems superfluous and, well, appreciated only by the unmotivated.
