This series contains six wordless four-minute films. These miniature works of cinematic art show familiar objects, in unfamiliar ways. Extreme close-ups start each segment. The shapes and patterns revealed by the magnification will surprise you. Armed with colorful clues, the mini-adventure begins as viewers ferret out what is going on and what the object may be. Accompanied by appropriate music and sounds, each well-known object (a window, a stream, and a fence) gets novel treatment. Each film concludes with the object in totality and set in context. The marvelous photography aptly asks and answers, what is it?

Engaging from the start, all age-levels will enjoy viewing the extraordinary in the ordinary. My six-year-old companion especially liked the mystery and originality, aspects adults will share. Due to its versatility, the series would be useful in a variety of settings. It could be used independently or segue into specific topics. The series should prove valuable for anyone wishing to underscore an appreciation for creativity, interpretation, and the art of seeing. It is recommended for all collections.
