This short 18 minute video describes in overview the process for amending the constitution. Divided into a number of short easily assimilated sections (What is an Amendment, Reasons to Amend, etc.) The video sidesteps many of subtleties and controversy surrounding proposed constitutional amendments (along with the current trend to introduce numerous amendments in Congress) and instead concentrates on the process, which is clearly described. The video notes the small number of times the constitution has been amended, and also places the amendment process within the broader political and historical context. A brief but timely section discusses the implications of 9/11/01 for constitutional law. The program is suitable for almost all levels from upper elementary grades to adults where a basic introduction to the subject is needed and could be used alone or, where more in depth study is desired, in combination with other more detailed materials.

Technical quality of both sound and video is very good. The distributor’s web site notes that purchase of the video ($79.95) includes a public performance right.
