Executive producer Anson W. Schloat and Human Relations Media continue their line of fine programming for young adult viewers with The Marijuana Papers: Research Update. Combining the nation’s top researchers talking about their findings with colorful, upbeat graphics, music and humor they have created a program that delivers the hard facts in a format that teenagers especially will relate to. Followed by a brief introduction to marijuana (Marijuana 101), the most common questions and myths about using the drug are tackled in a “Bill Nye the Science Guy” sort of way. Is marijuana addictive? How long does marijuana stay in the body? Are there long term effects of marijuana use? Does marijuana really affect sperm count? The answers may surprise you – and that’s exactly the desired effect.

As with other Human Relations Media programs, the accompanying Teacher’s Resource Book by Elizabeth Hoover is very well done. Highly recommended for Junior high through community college level audiences.
