Using Computers Safely addresses the physical and psychological problems triggered by the improper use of computers. The video identifies common injuries caused by excessive or incorrect use, discusses how the physical damage occurs, and provides a framework to safely approach computer use.

Experts, including a physiotherapist, ergonomic consultant, optometrist, and psychologist describe the symptoms of overuse and recommend possible solutions. A technology instructor demonstrates exercises to relieve strain on nerves, tendons, joints, and eyes. The host illustrates how to make positive ergonomic changes and suggests several ergonomic devices. The video also tackles the hazards of laptop computer use as well as the proper way to carry these portable machines. Throughout, proper posture and work place design are emphasized. The summary provided by the host at the conclusion of the video provides a nice, organized review of the topics covered.

While more exercises and a slower pace would have enhanced the video, Using Computers Safely presents a helpful overview of the ill effects brought on by improper computer use and poor work place design, and techniques to prevent injuries. This video is especially recommended as an introduction for those who are unfamiliar with the harmful effects brought on by these ubiquitous machines.
