Atomic Lies presents the conflict of interest between two United Nations agencies, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for Atomic Energy (IAEA) regarding the health consequences of the Chernoybl disaster. The video presents coverage of a conference where various scientific people assembled to try and find common ground. Each side has its own opinions and doesn’t seem to want to sway from them in order to reach a conclusion and take the next steps.

While the video is heavily scientific, interviews with residents of Chernoybl help create balance. The viewer feels the intense debate and the frustration of the health professionals who are trying to get medical help for the victims of the disaster.

The video quality is clear and professional. Sub-titles are used extensively through the piece and sometimes the white lettering is difficult to read against lighter backgrounds. Each person is clearly identified by name and organization. The audio quality is clear and concise. The music selected for the piece is appropriate and not overbearing.

Atomic Lies is recommended for university libraries with programs in environmental health or health sciences.
