We All Live Downstream delivers to the viewer a powerfully frightening look at the effect of industrial pollution on the Mississippi River. The enormous amount of toxins released into the river each day is startling. The effects of that dumping are even more shocking.

The directors do an excellent job of piecing together footage to create a smooth running video that truly captures the essence of the topic. Through interviews, tours and sad stories, the viewer is able to get a sense of the enormity of the impact of dumping toxins into the river.

I must admit that I expected the film to be a media piece for extolling the virtues of Green Peace. I am delighted to say that it was just the opposite. The film shows that industrial pollution affects each one of us and we need to be more cognizant of how we impact the environment. It also shows that people can accomplish great things when they take the time to become involved.

The video is clear and concise with very good audio. The choice of song selection is well suited to the feel of the video. While a topic like this certainly could use more than 28 minutes, the directors should be proud of the piece they have created.

A study guide including background information, discussion topics and classroom activities is included with the video.

This recommended video is appropriate for media centers, public libraries and college libraries. The film will appeal to those with an activist edge as well as anyone interested in environmental topics, mainly toxic pollution.
