The approach and tempo of this video are rapid-fire and engaging; the makers want to drive home an urgent point. Accidents kill more young Americans than any other cause of death, and by far the biggest contributing factor to accidents is alcohol. A series of interviews with young people whose lives have been shattered by getting behind the wheel while drunk demonstrates quite graphically the horrible dangers of driving after imbibing even a small amount of alcohol; adolescents’ and young adults’ metabolisms are often overwhelmed by their attempts to “drink like adults.”

Underage Drinking is meant to be viewed in tandem with Confronting Drunk Driving. The devastating medical, social and psychological consequences of underage experimentation with alcohol are demonstrated by talking to an emergency room physician, a district attorney, a 23-year-old recovering alcoholic and a group of young people who basically ask those acting as their guides to be firm in upholding standards of sobriety.
