A series of illustrative cases of heart disease, especially in women, is presented by host Joyce Resin in this program designed for Canadian television. Along with the interviews of women affected by heart disease, the program also provides interviews with cardiologists and other health professionals who together provide a summary of what is known about how to prevent and/or treat heart disease.

However, the “summary” provided here is somewhat superficial, so as to inadequately portray areas where a more in-depth explanation should be presented. For example, during one physician’s interview, it is pointed out as “fact” without elaboration that hormone replacement therapy can prevent heart disease in aging women. No mention is made of the recent controversy surrounding HRT. In view of the availability of other programs on heart disease prevention and treatment, this DVD should not be a primary consideration for consumer health collections.
