Bioterror: The Invisible Enemy is a timely news format film that brings the startling reality of biological agents to the screen. Narrated by Tom Brokaw, the video is chock full of knowledgeable people speaking about a wide array of bioterrorist threats.

In light of September 11th, the film has greater meaning and the consequences are much more realistic. Well produced and thoroughly researched, the film grabs hold of the viewer and doesn’t let go until the end. The film presents a good overview and introduction to bioterrorism. The topic is presented in an understandable way without being over simplistic.

A strength of the film is that it shows that bioterrorism can and has had an impact on the entire world and is not concentrated to one country or geographic area. Another strength is having Tom Brokaw as the narrator. His sense of reporting and his smooth voice help keep the viewer focused on the subject matter.

The video quality is first rate. The scenes showing the smallpox virus are graphic and may cause some viewers discomfort. The story is told using a timeline format highlighting a number of events involving biological agents. The audio quality is superb allowing the viewer to hear each individual and the narrator clearly. The musical choice is appropriate for the subject matter.

This film is highly recommended for high school media centers, college and university libraries and public libraries. Libraries with curriculums in medicine, history and science would benefit by adding this video to their collection.
