Using stills, prints and paintings, views of places associated with the Reformer, as well as interviews, this excellent production gives the viewer an introduction to Luther the man, his theology, the times in which he lived, and his legacy. Much of the production is given historical/theological context by Timothy George who does a splendid job of showing the differences between Lutheran/Protestant and Roman Catholic theology, specifically their different views of salvation. He also points out that Luther was a man who acted on his conscience in the context of the Scripture. This appeal by Luther and the early Protestants to an objective standard may be somewhat alien to our modern, subjective view of conscience. All the various technical aspects of this production (sound, picture, etc.) were good to very good. Schools and public libraries would all benefit by having this production.
