This film takes the viewer to the remote area of southeastern Venezuela to explore the world’s tallest waterfall, Angel Falls. The film is part of the Eco Adventures in Latin America Series from Chip Taylor. The bulk of the film follows a tour group aboard a Canaima Tours dugout canoe through the natural wonders of Canaima National Park. The final part of the film explores Angel Falls.

The scenery is absolutely stunning along the way, including forests, islands, jungles, savannas, rapids, lagoons and rivers. Exotic animals such as macaws, sloths, woodpeckers, squirrel cuckoos, toucans, ocelots and parrots are shown. The lush vegetation includes beautiful and rare orchids. Tepuis, or mesas, are explored along the journey. These are the table top mountains of the Guyana Mountains and are considered some of the oldest formations on earth.

The final section of the film takes the viewer to their ultimate destination, Angel Falls. They are nearly 3000 feet tall – sixteen times taller than Niagara Falls. They are breathtaking and truly awesome. The local Indians call it Kerepakupai-meru but they were named Angel Falls in 1937 by Jimmy Angel, an American bush pilot. The film closes with very brief interviews with the tour group members describing the natural beauty of the area.

This video has excellent technical quality with clear audio. This video would enhance library collections from the Junior High level to libraries with ecotourism and travel video collections.
