This pseudo-documentary is laced with rhetorical questions and statements of fact based on the perception of the filmmaker. The film is a volley against capitalism, its shaping of modern reality, and its lack of redeeming qualities.

Viewers of this film should be prepared to witness a subjective work of indoctrination. At intervals, the film offers still text displays of declarations such as “Market Economy: A self-sufficient expression intended to kill off even the meekest discussions.” No credit or citation is offered for the remark. This is simply what the filmmaker believes, and would wish to make the viewer believe. Statements like this are commonplace. Similar statements accompany the unabashed cynicism of the film. “The world is run by a bunch of disturbed people who are terrified of losing their fortunes.” The film repeatedly makes the broad claim, “another century, yet nothing vital has happened.” This statement is not taken out of context. The filmmaker believes that nothing “vital” occurred in the 20th century.

I cannot recommend this film to anyone. It lacks even a goodwill gesture of a balanced, mature discussion of the global economic system. Those looking for a documentary with an intellectually keen forum of discussion of the shortcomings of capitalism should look elsewhere.
