This video is a documentary of Pierre Bourdieu, a professor of sociology at the College de France. Filmed over a three-year period, the viewer follows Bourdieu to his lectures, to his meetings with students and his research team, to political rallies, to interviews, and to related travels.

While the video and audio qualities of this program are very good, it is a French language film (produced at C-P Productions et VF Films) with English language subtitles using British spelling. This film did not include additional graphics or other added visual aides to provide the viewer with contextual information. Due to the length of the film, the subtitles, and the ideas presented, it is very difficult to follow at times.

This film might be a nice addition for public libraries serving French-speaking populations. Colleges and universities with programs in graduate level sociology or contemporary French culture might find this a nice item to supplement the library’s collection to support these programs.
