The Good Egg, a documentary, takes the viewer through the process of egg donation. Erin Ploss-Campoamor, producer and main subject, gives the viewer a front seat to watch as she goes through the incredible process.

The Good Egg presents a well-balanced approach to the pros and cons of egg donation. Interviewees tell it like it is and don’t sugar coat anything. The film provides a very real portrayal of the complexities involved. Erin has done an exceptional job of providing a lot of important information in a short time frame. The film concludes with an update of the three women who appear in the film.

Subtitles are provided in places where, due to background noise, the viewer can not understand what is being said. The yellow color of the subtitles; however, sometimes make them hard to read.

There is footage of chicken eggs interspersed throughout the film. The footage seems to take away from the issues being presented in the film. The time possibly could have been used more effectively.

The video quality is good and generally there is adequate lighting. One exception would be the kitchen table discussions that seem a little underexposed.

A study guide is also available for the film. The guide offers issues raised in the film, topics for discussion and a resource list. A photo page shows the people included in the film.

This film is recommended for college libraries with disciplines in the health sciences, particularly fertility and for public libraries.
