As a card-carrying ailurophile, I am sorry to report that this is an incredibly boring and tedious production on cat selection.

After learning about the Abyssinian cat, we suffer through 19 long and short hair breeds in the same repetitive format, each one in alphabetical order. Balinese, Bengal, Birman, Cornish Rex, Himalayan, Manx, Persian, ad infinitum, are all identified by their history, markings, personality traits, temperament, sociability, and life span. However, this reviewer is affronted by the glaring omission of one spectacular breed: the Maine Coon.

While advice on kitten selection and care, feline health, grooming and family lifestyles have been included, along with the judicious warning that cats should not be let outside the house, the price of this DVD ($24.95) would be better spent on buying a book on pet selection.

Better yet, why not go to your local shelter and adopt a homeless cat or kitten well deserving of your love and home, instead?
