Perhaps some of the most poignant and enduring casualties of political oppression and war are the children involved. Lost Boys…Apartheid’s Legacy painfully illustrates the effects of apartheid, poverty, violence and crime on the lives a group of young men trying to improve themselves and their lives. The viewer has the opportunity to briefly meet these individuals, and be present at a sampling of the therapy sessions they have been attending on a weekly basis for several years.

The program is relatively brief, and doesn’t give the viewer the opportunity to experience much beyond quick observations from some of the young men and their therapist. All points made are valid and important, but not expanded to the extent that would be most beneficial for serious viewers interested in gaining awareness of the issues and challenges of these individuals. The technical qualities are good, although the subtitles were occasionally difficult to follow.

Although this reviewer cannot recommend this program, it definitely provides a unique perspective on a subject that needs continued examination.
