Wonder Women is a compilation of seven animated shorts produced by the National Film Board of Canada from 1987 to 2004. As the title intimates, all the films deal with women and the challenges they face at various stages in their lives. In Louise, we meet a ninety-six year old woman who takes us through a typical Saturday in her life. In Mabel’s Saga, we see a woman who is entering menopause. She is dealing with hot flashes, teenagers, and the death of her mother. Pirouette tells the story of a farmer who takes care of her animals, loves them, and eats them. Fair Phyllis copes with her herd of sheep and an amorous lover. Second Début’s Sophie is retiring from the work force but realizes that she doesn’t want to retire from life and helps those who cannot read. In My Grandmother Ironed the King’s Shirts, we not only learn of Torill Kove´s love of her grandmother’s stories, but of Norwegian history as well. Stitches in Time tells the story of two friends as they knit together and remember days gone by.

This DVD is a funny whimsical collection of animated shorts that will keep you laughing and thinking.
