This video examines the work of Charles Keeling since the 1950's, when he began taking air measurements at Manua Loa in Hawaii on carbon dioxide rates in the earth's atmosphere. He discovered that the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was increasing at an alarming rate, and that according to projections, we were quickly following a documented path from the past that would lead to the next ice age. This Greenhouse Effect, as it came to be called, would lead to massive global warming by the end of the year 2100.

A number of scientists and environmentalists are interviewed throughout the film, indicating that projections show the earth warming up anywhere between 4 - 10 degrees by the end of this century. There is a strong motivation by the end of the film to begin reducing the use of fossil fuels, which is the main contributor to the problem. Having seen the number of hurricanes in the last 2 years, as well as the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, the reason for the growing number of hurricanes and other natural disasters is the gradual warming of the earth's oceans and atmosphere, and these natural disasters will only increase as the earth warms. A very interesting film, from the perspective of scientists and environmentalists.
