In the series of CEO Stories: In Their Own Words, this documentary examines distinguished CEO of Renault, Louis Schweitzer, who resurrected Renault from near collapse during his tenure. He initiated an alliance with Nissan and relationship with Volvo. Fortuitous coincidences of needs among these companies and elaborate collaboration led to mutual success and progress for each of these companies, due to Schweitzer’s leadership. In this documentary, he discusses the decision to form partnerships as opposed to outright mergers. This discussion is a highlight of the film. He also provides his outlooks on the economic climate of Europe, sustainable development, and the global automobile market.

This documentary is richly informative, owing largely to Schweitzer’s tremendous flair and authority, dealing with both general and particular insights, fully explained with colorful detail and precise information. Though not visually stimulating (the documentary is wholly comprised of a face to face interview), this documentary is recommended for advanced business students, and anyone interested in entrepreneurship or global market strategy development.
