This film is an interesting multicultural and urban look at one community's issues in current politics and ethnic pluralism. Orange County, California, once the home of everything conservative and white and wealthy, is now the exact opposite: multicultural, liberal, and ethnically diverse. Within this county, a recent political crisis is documented on film: the attempt to recall school district trustee Nativo Lopez from the Santa Ana Unified Board of Education. Lopez has always been a strong advocate for undocumented immigrants, but his viewpoints have angered many residents in his district, and his recall is being led by (surprisingly) 2nd and 3rd generation Mexican-American mothers. This film documents this recall, through interviews and filmography, and attempts to understand the battle playing out all over America right now, as to what it means to be an American.
