Conducting Parent-Teacher Conferences: A Partnership in Progress provides helpful strategies for teachers who need to prepare for, conduct and provide follow up on parent-teacher conferences. A variety of professional educators introduce logical approaches on how to effectively handle positive and complex circumstances regarding student progress through role-play. The enactments are realistic and encourage teacher self-reflection and evaluation. The purpose of the program is for educators to establish meaningful partnerships with families to create “solution based relationships.” Within the presentation, the “core topics” discussed focus on academics, social skills, and emotional development in order to improve student achievement. In addition, a workbook is available to complement the video which can be used in workshops for professional development and teacher training.

The format is well organized and divided into six distinct segments. Furthermore, the narration is very professional and enhances the quality of the film. The consistent style and layout of the presentation is practical which allows viewers to follow along with ease. Conducting Parent-Teacher Conferences: A Partnership in Progress is highly recommended and can be used in a variety of ways. It is appropriate for public and academic library collections which can be used by parents as a reference or by beginning and experienced educators.
