Reviewed by Laurn Wilhelm, University of WyomingThis short video presents three scenarios where children have the opportunity to accept or ignore responsible actions. The action is fast-paced, the narration is effective. This program makes it appear as if teaching children responsibility is a relatively simple and easy task. In the first scenario, a child is asked by her mother to pick up the toys she and her two friends are playing with as company was coming that evening. Instead, one of the friends invites the other two girls to go to her house to play. All of the girls leave without asking or telling the mother where they are going, a request many parents make of their child to help teach them responsibility. A simple rearrangement of the timing could have helped avoid this error. This technically well produced video could be used to lead a positive discussion of how a child can build self-esteem particularly for the designated age range of kindergarten though the second grade.
