Morristown is a look at globalization and outsourcing from the viewpoints of US workers who have lost jobs to foreign outsourcing and foreign workers who have been forced to migrate to the US to find jobs. The film shows the same economic forces that have sent jobs from Tennessee to Mexico have also driven Mexicans to the US in search of a decent living for their families. Many issues are raised through interviews with US workers and migrant workers. Some of the US workers feel that the Mexicans are coming in to 'take' jobs away from them. Some of the Mexicans believe they aren't taking anything away, but simply working the jobs that Americans don't want to do. US workers worry that it is becoming acceptable for companies to hire migrant workers at very low wages and work them for long hours in dangerous conditions. Migrant workers feel that they are valuable as hard workers who won't question or talk back to employers. The film ends on a very positive note when native and foreign workers in Morristown work together to form a union. This film is highly recommended for anyone with an interest in the global economy and its effects on workers around the world.
