Though most periodical DVD releases fail, Stash DVD magazine is one example of a successful must-have, especially for any digital artist. Most of the top producers, directors, and agencies in the world of advertising, brand design, music and game videos are represented somewhere in the series, as well as just about any aspect of creative film design. Stash can be purchased by subscription like any serial publication, in a “sixpack,” or as individual volumes from www.stashmedia.tv. Some of the individual volumes are already sold out. Proof of the series’ popularity is in its numerous You Tube postings. Young people may not know anything about “all the news that fit to print,” but they are definitely watching Stash. The individual volumes come with a high quality print booklet and card reproductions that illustrate the stories and projects on the DVD’s. The sixpacks provide high-resolution PDF files on the DVD’s of the booklets. Extras include behind the scenes interviews and production information, experimental films, and even bonus music MP3 files. Microcinema has even addressed the future of publishing in high definition in the near future, thankfully without discussion of format wars. Stash volumes all represent the best in what video production, especially instructional media production, can be. They instantly grab and hold the viewers attention and viewers will come off the digital ride with more information than when they boarded. These are essential purchases for any graphic or media program but would also interest, and more importantly, possibly motivate, the uninitiated budding artist to professional pursuit.
