This film, detailing the problems of ocean acidification - - the contamination of the oceans with carbon dioxide, is not to be missed. There are massive changes taking place in our oceans that most of us are not even aware of. These changes effect ocean chemistry and therefore affect sea life. Experts who are interviewed in the film say, “It’s not just about the magnitude of the change, but the rate of change that species cannot adapt to.” When species cannot adapt, they die out and this, of course, affects the entire food chain.

The narrator of this film is a retired educator who undertakes a journey to find out more about ocean acidification so that he can explain the issue to his young grandson. Although a good amount of scientific data is presented in this film, the narrator is able to convey to the viewer in laymen terms some of the causes of ocean acidification and what could perhaps be done to slow the process. With a whopping 22 million tons of carbon dioxide being absorbed by the oceans each day, a change needs to occur.

Watching this film will open your eyes to the enormity of the issues of global warming and ocean acidification.
