At 20 minutes in length, this brief program is packed with valuable information for expectant mothers planning for the delivery of their baby. Using CGI together with actual footage of moms in labor, various positions are demonstrated that help relieve pain, progress a slowed labor, and make the most of gravity for a more comfortable delivery.

Chapter one reviews the four main fetal positions: anterior, posterior, transverse and breech. Chapter two includes maternal positions for the first stage of labor, and chapter three for the second stage. They incorporate different poses utilizing main the movements of sitting, standing, walking, and hands and knees including forward leaning, upright, asymmetrical, side-lying and squatting.

This is a straight-forward instructional program, professionally shot and edited, and of the usual high quality of other InJoy Video productions. You won’t go wrong adding this to your collection. A parent handout is available on the InJoy web site. Designed for patient education, Positions for Labor will also enhance academic health sciences collections particularly in the ob/gyn nursing field. Recommended.
