This short film is a reflection by the film maker on her relationship with her father, who began as a ‘creative’ person, working for Norman McLaren on a film called Birdling, then abandoned animation to become a business man and support his family. Pardo is particularly taken with her father’s youthful dive into a pool while fully clothed in a suit. Her interview with him about his early film work makes him defensive about his more lucrative subsequent career, as he insists that he still gets excited about his work, and she insists on jumping into a pool with her clothes on. The film is too slight to explore these hints of tension in their relationship, though they are the center of interest. Recommended for complete collections in film studies.
