Reviewed by Sebastian Derry, Temple UniversityNoted VJ (visual performance artist) Ben Sheppee has pulled together 24 audiovisual tracks (12 originals and 12 remixes) featuring works from brianclark, supernature, suryummy, vj reel, ben sheppee, alien-eye, girlbot, kevlar, spot, so+ba, tom wall, jon riche.
State of the art digital animation with loads of video scratching (similar to how a DJ scratches with a turntable) and audio and visual manipulation meet-up with a smorgasbord of current electronica musicians. The stand out track here has to be rapper Sage Francis’ “Hoofprints In The Sand” (see it on YouTube).
Visually and sonically, this compilation may very well induce a dreamscape or trance state—and that’s a good thing.
