Posthumous sperm retrieval is a controversial issue in the medical arena. It goes beyond the realm of organ donations. Is it right for a wife to decide that her comatose husband become a father? What about the husband’s consent?

This program gives a gripping and compelling account of the tragic loss of a husband and his wife’s decision, with his parents’ blessings to have her husband’s sperm extracted and preserved in order for her to conceive a child.

This program is recommended because it presents a forum for debate on the ethical and moral views regarding posthumous sperm retrieval. One weakness in the program is that it only discusses one side of the issue. An opposing viewpoint would be a welcome addition to the film.
