In this episode of the popular public television series America Quilts Creatively, hosts Karen Good and Sue Hausmann demonstrate three different quilting techniques with the help of featured guests. The first project is a creative landscape quilt with Carol Ingram. Using different textures and techniques, this “multimedia pictorial” quilt is a southwestern design, but could be translated to any scene. Importance is placed on fabric choice, thread choice, and instructions are given for fabric painting.

The second project demonstrates the use of computer generated images to make a small wall hanging with a variety of “loose” pieces and fun little window openings. The designs are downloaded from web sites, printed and used as templates. Then pieces are cut out and applied to the quilt.

Lastly, a new technique by Vikki Pignatelli for curved quilting is shown. Beautiful creative shapes and designs can be quilted with dramatic results. All of these projects are for intermediate to advanced quilters.

Most people have seen these type of programs either on their public television station or one of the home renovation and decorating channels, and have a good idea what to expect. This is no different, and represents one episode of this popular series. Recommended for public libraries or personal collections.
