Focusing on elite high school basketball players, Gunnin’For That #1 Spot is many things including promotional material for the Elite 24 basketball camp, information source for what goes on with the best high school hoops players in the country, partly a video basketball card, and mini biographies of several players. This film was shot in 2006, and many of the players on screen have competed on the biggest stages in Division I college basketball and are now honing their skills in the NBA. The athletes are loaded with talent and the videography and editing captures their moves and their skills magnificently. The Elite 24 camp was created to bring the best of the best together without any connection to the shoe companies, which all have their own camps, but only get the players they have deals with. The audience begins to get a feel for the amount of pressure and how the expectations are on these kids to excel. There is much media attention garnered on these 15-18 year olds, much of it due to the advent of the Internet. The soundtrack is simply outstanding. This is not an academic resource per se, but much more of an info-tainment piece, but done very well. I absolutely recommend this title for public libraries all over.
