The need is always present for objective information to aid the curious and the seeker in understanding the many faiths that exist. This film uses a variety of methods to explore the rituals of Catholicism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, African American multicultural nondenominational, and Native American religions.

Through film and stills, the viewer is taken into churches and other sacred places to experience liturgy, singing, and dance. Several people from each faith provide background and explanations; these include a priest, nun, choir director, imam, music educator, minister, spiritual director, medicine doctor, rabbi, and dancer/actress.

The explanations of the rituals, objects, beliefs, practices, and prayers are clear and heartfelt. The film is full of the sights and sounds, especially the music and dancing, of these religions. From the syncopated rhythms of gospel music to the melodious meditation of group chanting, the use and need for music and rituals comes through clearly.

This film, produced and directed by the chairman of Marywood University Communication Arts Department, will go far to help in the understanding of cultures through religion. It is not often that one is able to experience the rituals of religion outside one's own; this documentary makes that possible. It will appeal to students of religion and cultures and to the general adult viewer interested in learning about other faiths.
