The Truth About Climate Change is an intriguing series of two discs that provide an exceptional look at the issues of global warming.

Disc One is Are We Changing Planet Earth? This film asks whether global warming is a naturally occurring event or is it caused by human action. The history of the earth and humankind are examined and climactic modeling is used to answer the question. Here is a spoiler alert – the answer is yes we are.

Disc Two is Can We Save Planet Earth? The focus here is now that we have caused this global warming, is there anything we can do to change it? The viewer is taken on a journey of how everyday activities are contributing to increased carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Scenarios are presented that show how global warming will impact future generations if we do nothing. Practical solutions on how each person can contribute to reduced carbon emissions are examined. Another spoiler alert – the answer is yes we can but we have to act now.

The series is hosted and narrated by Sir David Attenborough. He does a phenomenal job of guiding the viewer through this exploration of global warming. His tone is interestingly comforting bringing a real feel to a subject that affects us all. His appearance in this series is the topping on the proverbial cake for this extraordinary set of films.

This series represents a well-balanced execution of storytelling. It presents history, tells of the problem and then provides a combination of solutions. The viewer gets the full treatment and not a one sided view to appease a particular audience.

The photography is awe inspiring and captivating. The scenes from all four corners of the earth beautifully illustrate what an incredible world we live in. The musical selections are a perfect fit and hauntingly appropriate for the subject matter.

The Truth About Climate Change is highly recommended for the intended audience. The message of the film transcends all barriers encouraging everyone to look the world and their part in it.

College and university libraries with programs in environmental studies would benefit from having this in their collection. Public libraries should definitely include this in their collections.
