This DVD, part of the Exploring the World series, focuses primarily on cultural activities in Oslo, Norway’s capital. Located at the head of the Oslo Fjord and surrounded by forest, Oslo is home to over 500,000 people.

Led by hosts Jake and Mieke De Boer, plus a tour guide, Norway 2: Oslo profiles the Kon-Tiki Museum, home to boats from Thor Heyerdahl’s voyages; the Norwegian Folk Museum, made entirely of wood; the Vigeland Sculpture Park, featuring the work of sculptor Gustav Vigeland; Oslo City Hall, with all-Norwegian building materials, including its stone floor, and the Oslo Sweater Shop, selling Scandinavia’s largest selection of Norwegian sweaters. The Sculpture Park is Oslo’s number one tourist attraction, and it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Other tourist attractions are briefly touched on, as is the history of Nobel Peace Prize (named after Alfred Nobel, and awarded annually on December 10 in Oslo City Hall).

All attractions are visited first-hand in the video, which makes them come to life for the viewer. Particularly Oslo City Hall—its murals, stone floors, and artwork are explored thoroughly.

The hosts are pleasant, which makes this video enjoyable to watch, particularly for a first-time visitor to Oslo. The segment transitions have choppy video; otherwise, video quality is fine.
