This DVD explores the Renaissance period in Italy during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. It begins in Florence in the south of Italy, where humanism first appeared, then takes the viewer to London and Amsterdam and Scandinavia. The influences of artists and thinkers such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo are examined, along with Martin Luther and Copernicus. The many sides of the Renaissance movement are presented. There are many beautiful landscapes and artworks shown in this video, and it is a great introduction to the effect that the Renaissance had on human history and its influence to the present day.
