This is a story about two individuals’ fascination with and connection to flight. James is a champion kite flyer but also serves as the personal assistant to Rory. Rory, blind since birth, has always had a particular fascination with flight and maintains his own air traffic monitoring equipment, able to identify types of aircraft and speed just by their sound. James’ skill is evidence as we watch him and his brother choreograph kite flying sequences for an upcoming competition. His connection to the kite through the vibration of the string and its sound combine to offer verification of its visual effect. Rory is fascinated to see if he can learn to fly a kite. After all he has highly developed senses related to the sense of vibration and sound. And since he has worked with James as a personal assistant their bodies often function as one for physical movement and activities. Their efforts to challenge themselves prove fascinating as each admits learning more from the other, than from teaching. Although Rory does not master the maneuver he wants with the kite because of an overly windy day, he and James are satisfied with their efforts. A simple, kind story about the better side of living life.
