Part 7 of this animal series highlights the behaviors and characteristics of these three distinct mammals that on first appearance seem to have nothing in common, but upon further examination share some of the same adaptation traits that have kept these species from going extinct. The animals highlighted in this DVD are the seal, polar bear, and sloth. Great attention is given to the body temperature and metabolism of these creatures, and their function and role in the survival of these remarkable mammals.

The video is broken up into four different segments which make for a flexible viewing schedule, although some of the transitions are a bit rough. The video’s abrupt shift from one mammal to another is a bit awkward and leaves the viewer wondering if the video skipped a track and information was missed. The transitions could be a bit more seamless as each subject is appealing and informative and can stand on its own. This video is recommended and can be used as supplemental material that will serve to compliment additional reference resources about these animals. Classroom teachers can use excerpts of this video and apply them to their teaching making the topic engaging and relevant to their lessons.
