Love is an amazingly complex emotion and despite many efforts to define it in our contemporary society, it is often times much better portrayed visually. This film succeeds in doing that by showing us the story of two individuals, Warren and Cory. An unlikely match Cory is 36, walks but can’t talk; Warren is more than double Cory’s age at 83 and can no longer walk, but is very verbal. Warren’s early years were institutionally based until he became part of a broader missionary/church family. Cory was the oldest of five children whose parents worked tirelessly to integrate her into family and regular societal living. The two of them met more than a decade ago and have formed an inseparable bond. Each has been similarly diagnosed with slight retardation and CP. The film contains a series of interviews with caregivers that work with Cory and Warren and their perceptions about the nature of their relationship. However what is most telling is the footage of their connection when they are filmed together, communicating, being pushed in a wheelchair and spending time together. Our observation confirms a bond of commitment and caring albeit unconventional.
