In this animated short, writers, directors and animators, Amanda Forbis and Wendy Tilby, tell the story of an English dandy, who leaves the refinement and civility of England in the pursuit of adventure in the colonial territory of Alberta, Canada. Although his family believes that he is slowly transforming into a rough and tough rancher, based on his letters, nothing could be further from the truth. Despite living in the wilderness of Alberta, he is unable to leave behind his English customs and habits. He eventually falls victim to the harsh, unforgiving conditions of winter. The animation of this short is beautiful and the sound quality is excellent. Although it is an animated short, it does provide a brief look at the socioeconomic conditions of the English empire at the turn of the last century. However, despite the beautifully crafted animation, it is unclear as to where this particular film would fit within a library collection outside of media or film studies.
